Yep, yet another entry in the "woman hikes PCT" category. I will probably continue reading and reviewing these until I've read them all.

Girl in the Woods is by also about a woman, like Cheryl Strayed, who is running from something. She was raped her first week of college; administrators dismissed her accusations. She tried to forge ahead but she needed something more. She had hiked some before and decided that hiking 2600 miles was her way to healing.

Matis' writing style is very readable. It carries the reader along on her journey through hot, cold, rock and snow, plus romantic entanglements with fellow hikers. This isn't a standout in the field, but it's a worthwhile edition.
